Visit Us
From Alnwick to Gosforth, Newcastle to Darras Hall, and everywhere in between, an award-winning Prep School is closer than you think.
Mowden Hall School is vibrant, leading co-educational day and boarding school for children aged 2 to 13 based in Northumberland, less than 15 miles from Newcastle.
It is a place where childhood is celebrated, learning is inspiring, and character education thrives. We understand that choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make.
We believe that there is no better way to experience the Mowden than to come and visit us in person. We invite you to come and walk through our grounds and experience the enthusiasm of our children, the talent and commitment of our staff, and the energetic atmosphere of the school.
Boarding has always been at the heart of Mowden Hall School. It is where friendships deepen, confidence grows, and children experience a sense of belonging that lasts well beyond their prep school years.
We currently offer four clear pathways – Introductory, Bronze, Silver and Gold – for pupils in Year 3 – 8. This allows pupils the flexibility of boarding from 1-5 nights per week. You can find out more about our Boarding Reimagined programme here.
We currently offer two regular bus services: a daily morning route from Gosforth and Darras Hall, and a twice-weekly service from North Northumberland.
Our Day Bus runs every morning, Monday to Friday, collecting pupils from Elgy Road in Gosforth before stopping on Broadway in Darras Hall and then continuing on to Mowden.
Our Boarding Bus operates on Monday and Thursday mornings, collecting flexi and weekly boarders from Powburn near Alnwick and bringing them to Mowden. This bus also runs on Exeat Fridays, providing a return service in the afternoon.
Visit our Open Morning on Saturday 10 October between 9.00am and 11.00am and discover the magic of Mowden for yourself.
