The Compass Curriculum will sit alongside Mowden Hall’s established academic and co curricular programmes, reinforcing academic foundations while helping pupils develop the judgement, independence and confidence they need to flourish at senior school and beyond.
The curriculum is designed to nurture young people of strong character and clear purpose and has been developed collaboratively by prep and senior school specialists. It is built around four key areas: Navigate, Engage, Strive and Wonder, each of which focuses on strengthening leadership, communication and analytical thinking.
In Years 7 and 8, the programme is organised into six termly modules alongside the existing curriculum at Mowden Hall. Each module is designed to spark curiosity, challenge thinking and develop practical, real world skills. Alongside in school learning, pupils will take part in collaborative, project based work with peers from across the Radley Schools Group and attend group residential camps in the UK. Pupils’ work across the programme will culminate in the Compass Award, celebrating their achievements.
Andrew Ashton, Chief Executive (Prep Schools) at Radley Schools Group, said: “The Compass Curriculum marks the next step in realising the vision of Radley Schools Group: to provide exceptional educational opportunities for every child in our care, blending the best of tradition with innovation to give your child the very best start in life. It reflects our belief that education should extend beyond traditional academic boundaries, enabling pupils to work independently towards clear goals.”
Alastair Speers, Educational Consultant, added: “Compass offers a flexible and collaborative framework that complements the distinctive strengths of every prep school in the Group. It broadens learning and encourages pupils to step beyond their comfort zones.”
This is an exciting step for our school and we look forward to seeing our pupils continue to grow, flourish and navigate their educational journey with confidence and purpose. Read the booklet and watch the video below to find out more:
