Saturdays at Mowden

A different kind of school day… Saturday mornings are part of the rhythm of life at Mowden. We know that Saturday school can be one of the first things prospective families ask about when they discover Mowden. And we understand why.

So, what does Saturday actually look like?

There are lessons on Saturday, but the day has a different feel to the Monday-to-Friday school week. Alongside academic learning, pupils have time for sport, activities, enrichment and opportunities to spend time with their friends.

It’s about making the most of the extra time we have together – and giving pupils opportunities to learn, play, challenge themselves and try something new.

A Saturday at Mowden isn’t simply Monday to Friday repeated.

The morning combines academic lessons with sport, activities, enrichment and wider opportunities, creating a different rhythm to the week.

There is still time to learn and make progress in the classroom, but there is also more opportunity to step outside it – onto the sports pitches, into the theatre, outdoors or into activities that allow pupils to discover new interests and develop their confidence.

Learn

Academic learning doesn’t stop on a Saturday. Pupils continue to develop their knowledge and skills through lessons, while benefiting from a different pace and atmosphere to the rest of the school week.

Play

Sport is an important part of life at Mowden, and Saturday provides another opportunity to get outside, represent the school, work as a team and enjoy competing with friends.

Explore

Saturday provides opportunities for enrichment, activities and experiences beyond the core curriculum – encouraging pupils to discover new interests and have a go at something unfamiliar.

Connect

School is about more than lessons. It’s about friendships, belonging and being part of a community. Saturday gives pupils another opportunity to spend time with their friends and enjoy the experiences that make Mowden feel like home.
