We build on the foundations laid in the Early Years by developing emerging skills and deepening children’s interests, all while fostering character, confidence, and resilience. Pupils are encouraged to take on new challenges, try new experiences, and grow both socially and academically.
As children move through Pre-Prep, they begin to benefit from increased access to specialist teaching.
Weekly lessons in Music, French, Art, Science, Sport, IT, and Swimming are led by dedicated subject specialists, and pupils make full use of our outstanding facilities—enriching their learning experience across the curriculum.
Year 2 marks an important stage of readiness for the transition to Year 3 and life in the main part of the school. We focus on building independence and self-confidence, preparing each child to take this next step with ease and enthusiasm.
Our thoughtful approach to transition extends throughout Pre-Prep. Teachers work closely across year groups to ensure continuity, with time spent in both Reception and Year 1 to ease progression. This close collaboration ensures that children are supported and well-prepared as they move through the school.
Every Year 1 and Year 2 class benefits from a full-time teacher and a teaching assistant, ensuring each child receives individual attention and tailored support. Our small class sizes allow for a personalised, connected curriculum that makes learning exciting, relevant, and engaging.
We also understand the needs of modern family life. To support this, we offer an extended day and after-school clubs led by familiar Early Years and Pre-Prep staff. This continuity of care supports working families and helps younger children adjust naturally to the rhythm of the longer Prep School day—especially helpful for those with older siblings already in the main school.
At every stage, our goal is to provide a smooth, supported journey through early education—laying the groundwork for confident, happy learners who are ready for all that lies ahead.
